Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street
The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more >>

Playing the piano is the hardest thing .....
on: January 12, 2003, 03:48:49 AM
Sometimes i feel like crying because making soemthing sound musically perfect is almost impossible.   The 3rd movement of the moonlight sonata is sooo beautiful.   Dynamics and legato and staccato and slurs and ties and rubato and so many other factors makes music musical.  I guess it is just now that i am realizing that hitting all the notes doesn't make music.    This will be a lifelong journey trying to make music music....

I completely agree but provided you are motivated by the love of music and of playing the piano well, the rewards of  commitment and long hours of good practice are wonderful.  On  the journey of learning to play the piano is disappointment, frustration and even despair.  It is like life itself and the challenge to do better is always there.  In the great literature of the piano we are working with artistic creation of the highest order and it such a privilege to have this kind of beauty as part of our daily life at the piano.
Although I am a new member, I find this forum so helpful, even inspirational when I read the profound insights and shared experiences of its members.  It is a tremendous encouragement in pursuing my love of the piano and its music.
Thank you all.
