Well let me preface my response by stating for what seems to be the thousandth time on this forum, that what I find difficult could be completely different from what you find difficult and completely different from what Mr. Smith finds difficult. Now that that's out of the way, I consider Feux Follets to be the most difficult, followed by Mazeppa and then Chasse Neige. I have seen them ordered differently, but those are almost always the top 3. Please search the forum before you ask a question like this. Certainly all of the 1837 versions are very difficult indeed. I actually prefer these-even Busoni didn't go that far.
