How Many Hours Should You Practice the Piano? – The Lines Between Science, Method and Passion

It is a timeless question, a persistent voice in the mind of every pianist: “How many hours must I practice to truly improve?” It springs from a perfectly legitimate desire to measure the commitment required to transform our ambitions into sound, whether that means playing a simple minuet or dreaming of the world’s most prestigious stages. Giulio Cinelli from Pianosolo.it guides us through this classic topic. Read more

Sonetto 104 del Petrarca
on: August 30, 2011, 08:07:45 PM
I am currently attempting to play this piece, but the edition I have does not care much for fingering.

Does anyone have/know of an edition that has lots of this? Those huge cords are a lot easier to sight read for me with fingering, so it's a bit essential.

Also, any advice on practicing the piece (I have never understood the reason for people asking this, but I might as well since I'm creating this thread) would be great.

Thanks!

Well I would advise you to look up the sonetto itself by Petrach: I believe that it is titled ' I find no peace, nor reason to make war.' Also remember that this is a transcription of an earlier work by Liszt and it was a song, so now you must make the piano sing. Here, check out IMSLP:

I have the Verlag of the entire Pelerinage, although it may not have as many finger markings as you would like...

Best of luck!

Well the edition i ALWAYS use is the Peters edition, for me, it has the best options in fingerings, and is the most clear, it's my favorite :) .
