Buying a stage piano
on: September 02, 2011, 02:45:02 PM
Hi,
I've been playing piano for 6 years.
I started with a keyboard, after a couple of years I got a Piano  ;D.

Now I'm going to University and will live on my own  8).
I don't have a lot of space, so I was thinking to buy a stage piano.
I want to stay below 1000 euros (or dollars  :-X).
A lot of people say that the Yamaha P95 very good is, but...
I played it in a nearby musicshop and I didn't like the sound at all.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a digital piano which has:
- Pretty Piano sound
- feels a bit like a piano

I don't have any interest in 50 different sounds  :o, as long as it has maybe 2 good piano sounds.
I won't travel a lot with it, I only should be able to put it away when I need some space  :).

(Sorry for my bad english :-[)

My advice is go for touch and price on the keyboard, second hand is OK, forget sound, use midi and a laptop. Garage band on the Mac has a nice Steinway as the default Grand Piano, complete with subtle imperfections. $300 can get you as close as any digital in my view.

Hey Melodi,
Check out a Yamaha DGX 640. I believe it cost around $800 U.S. I use one on stage and I think you'd like it...
