Help Please!
on: September 04, 2011, 11:18:46 AM
I'm struggling by choosing pieces , i have choosed many pieces from diffrent composer's to learn.. But then i thougth it would probaly be more like a repotorie if i for example choosed just one of these collections ;
Bach - Goldbergs Variations
Grieg - Lyric Pieces
Mendelssohn - Song without words
Like Gould did he almost only played the variations and Goldbergs by Bach , but i don't know.. Should a repotorie be build up by a collection by one artist in one set or just many pieces that i really like?
But if i choosed one of the sets my repotorie would be more in order after my opnion.
What do you think?

That's why some people really need a teacher.

To select a repertoire try to get pieces of different styles preferably from different eras. If you want you may also compose pieces to perform as part of your repertoire. You may want to check on the selected lists of pieces to play for as repertoire for diplomas from the various examination boards ABRSM, TCL, etc. it should give you a guide but by no means a definite measure on what you can play.
