Francisco Buencamino - Mayon Fantasia - Enzo
on: September 06, 2011, 04:14:35 PM
We wanted to share this work by Filipino composer Buencamino utilizing the Filipino folksong "condansoy" as its main theme. Interesting is the sonic depiction of a volcanic eruption (2:25) perhaps of Mayon volcano, reputed to be the world's most perfect cone shaped volcano. I love the way Enzo pours his energy into this portion .... hope you agree.
THANKS FOR LISTENING AND WATCHING.
This was part of a presentation at the University of the Philippines titled " Music of Philippine Nationhood" .... all original Filipino compositions, including voice, dance and other musical instruments which gave an overview of the development of music in this part of the world.
Any comments, suggestions and observations is most welcome.
edit: if you would like to have the sheets I will try to get them for you - just PM me your email.

Hi emill and Enzo,
First time I had ever heard this piece, and it's quite an interesting one at that. Enzo played all the the big bravura passages with true finesse. Also he played the more poetic parts with much feeling and expressiveness. For me this was a fine and convincing performance. Excellent!
