Hi,

I have a piano in my home since I was born. It is great condition. Although it is not at concert pitch, it is still in tune to itself. It has Huni Lucc. de J Trost & Co Zurich Piano written on it but I cannot find out anything about this piano on the net. I'm not sure if Lucc is the correct spelling. I am not looking at selling this at the moment but I am wondering if i should have it insured. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Vince

The Swiss always made quality stuff, as the local market is extremely fussy, pays good money, and expects good products. To start things off, translated from a German language Q & A site:

History: J. Trost & Co., Zurich: Jakob born on 25.12.1827, from 1886 the firm of J. Trost is listed. Jakob dies on 20.06.1897. From 1897, then continues under the name of the piano factory Hüni Zurich.  1926, the company ceases as Hüni & Co. Now becomes Men & Hüni. Rordorf: The company Hüni was founded in 1860 Zurich. In 1878 Carl Heinrich Hüni works for Trost & Cie. in Zurich, 1893 Rudolf Rordorf is listed as a partner. 1894 death of the partner Rudolf Rordorf and from 1895 the company operates under the name Hüni & Co in Zurich. On 7/24/1908 Carl Heinrich Hüni dies.
