Moszkowski etude G minor No 2 Op 72
Moszkowski etude Op.92 No. 2
Chopin revolutionary etude
Czerny op. 740 No. 12, 37, 41
Czerny Etude op. 299 no. 34
I agree that LH studies are needed for the serious classical pianist, due to the fact that so much of the standard repertoire works out the RH and lets the LH slide by, which will eventually catch you ...
Extending the list in the quote -
Moskowski's entire op 92 is for the LH - 12 etudes - they look very difficult. All 12 are viewable on YT.
His op 72 etudes often treat the LH and RH equally, some good ones for LH: 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15
Czerny published two sets for the LH -
- op 399 : the pieces are Very difficult and exceedingly lengthy - not particularly useful
- op 718: these are Czerny standard patterns, they bridge intermediate into advanced
Also, there are more from Art of Finger Dexterity (op 740) and School of Velocity (op 299) than mentioned above - - browse the books and look for lots of notes in the lower staff.
Also there's the infamous Czerny Toccata op 92. good for both hands, but LH needs solo practice
Again, there are a few more from Chopin than the revultionary, these include ones that work both hands:
Opus 10: 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 12
Opus 25: 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12
Godowsky wrote 53 studies that are reflections on the Chopin 24 - some of them specifically focused on LH. For some reason these aren't part of the conservatory student etude repertoire ...??
And there are non-etude pieces for LH:
Scriabin - Prelude & Nocturne for the Left Hand, Op. 9
Brahms - Chaconne (already mentioned)
