Free Acting Tips
on: October 09, 2011, 11:54:05 PM
This is a School of Acting that I call the "Open Mouth School of Acting" and it's for individuals who would like to be really good at acting.  All you have to do is, in almost every, single scene, open your mouth and you will be acting!  You will look expressive and theatrical and dramatic.  I first observed this when I sometimes used to watch the TV show "Alias," but since then have observed it in many places:

Here is another good example:

Please feel free to add your own tips in this thread, if you should so desire.  I think that the photo I've seen of my mouth being super huge when I'm singing must mean I'm really quite a great actor.

Another good tip is related to the "Put your hand somewhere on yourself as you would in real life" school of acting.  This could involve you scratching your head, or your arm, picking your teeth, or just putting your hand somewhere on yourself like at the back of your head when you're thinking ...  there are many professional actors using this one, too.  And, imagine if you combined an open mouth AND putting your hand somewhere on yourself... you might almost look like a real person!

But, don't just take my word for it!  Observe and use these things for yourself!  FLY, FLY ... FLLYYYYYYY........ my pretties.

Oh, I have formally noticed that the girl from Alias is using both the Open Your Mouth trick as well as Put Your Hand Somewhere On Yourself trick ... brava ... brava, I say ...

The Beethoven clip would be a good one for someone to recreate and put someone else in place of that girl.  That could be amusing.

There is also one, that I call "Stare into the air when you don't have anything else to say"-technique. It's most common in soaps like 'Days of our lives' and 'The Bold And The Beautiful', and use in the end of, almost, every scene. It's very common to combine it with the "Open mouth technique", but it's not a criteria to pull off this magnificant technique.

Yes, I know what you are speaking of, and you're right, it's great when combined with the Open mouth technique ... in fact, I tried it several times for fun after you posted about this (both plainly and combined with the open mouth technique).  Perhaps I will take some photos of myself as I employ some of these wonderful techniques for fun  ;D.

I'd love to see some photos of some members (over)acting these techniques  ;D 8).  Littletune?  Wolfi? Pianoman?  Bob?  Bernhard?  Marik?  Lostinidlewonder?  Goldentone?  Nils?  Thal?  Ahinton?  Anybody?? ;D

How do you mean?  Do you mean to somehow superimpose over what's already there?  Or, do you mean to make an entirely new scene with your own cast?

It cuts from Beethoven to the girl, back and forth.  Even someone who didn't know much about what they were doing could take the girl clips out and put something else in there.  You could put yourself in a scene with Beethoven.

The music could probably be swapped out too but that would be more obvious.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
