Something folk-ish for begginer
on: October 11, 2011, 01:51:23 PM
Hi thanks everyone for suggestions for scary piece
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=42889.0
I finally went for Grieg: Hall of the mountain king (easy version). I tried The Heller Etude Op. 45, No. 15 (nice one, I must admit), but well ... complete failure :| Still too few years under my belt I guess
Today another question: can you recommend something in similar mood (and level) to:
- Bartok Romanian Dances (Sz. 56),
- Tchaikovsky Album for Young no. 11, 12 (Russian song, Mazurka) or
- Grieg Lyric Pieces Book II Op.38 2 (Popular Melody)?
At the moment I am at the stage "national folk music" and after playing above I have nothing to play. Chopin Mazurkas are not yet the option for obvious reasons
I could ask my teacher for advice but she doesn't like when I am playing something other than Bach :| so this is more like side projects
Regards
Marcin

Everybody's Favorite Series Piano Pieces for the Young Student, Book #80, Amsco Music Publishing co NY Editor Herbert H. Wise. 1951. Three American Fok Songs P83. Foster. The Merry Peasant, Schumann P82. Ed Poldini Scarecrow, P158. Dark Eyes P21. Sousa, the Washington Post March P152, my favorite. Great book, I played 1/3 the stuff in here when I was young. Arrangers are not credited, kids from tin pan alley I suppose.
