*Original* Op. 35 Nocturne In Ab -- Love Serene -
on: October 19, 2011, 06:35:20 AM

Piece is in ABA Form. Begin and End section Ab Major, Middle Section B Major.

Bit of melancholy feeling with ups and downs but mostly peaceful and Serene.

Took about 2 months to compose.

That's really lovely, I enjoyed it. I'm really struck by the superb tone of your upright. I thought it was a grand at first. What brand is it?

Very pretty piece indeed.

I just felt it could be a bit shorter and could use more contrast. Think of the famous Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor - the theme is very focused and march-like - yet the contrasting B section is lyrical.  I actually think it helps to base a composition on a work by a master - not copying exactly, but using it as an inspiration.

I agree that the piano is beautiful. I will check out your other compositions on YT!

Hey guys thanks for the feedback, although I feel perfectly fine with the piece as it already is but it's still very helpful to know what other people think.

I do agree with he contrasting part... I actually did 5 versions of the piece before coming onto the final version that's why it took 2 months, but in the end my heart just settled with a version where the emotions were just like a serene sea with slight movements.

There was a version where the middle section was like furious which I thought would not fit the title lol......and couldn't be bothered practising

The piano is a steinway upright....the keys do feel like a grand though.
