VIDEO Debussy - Jardins sous la pluie from Estampes
on: October 23, 2011, 08:57:23 PM
Hello everyone,

Here is a video of me playing one of Debussy's Estames: Jardins sous la pluie. I have been studying this for a month and still needs some musical work. Any feedback and comments will be appreciated. :)

Hi. For a month this is very nicely done. but since you are obviously a pretty good pianist there is still much that needs doing. This is Debussy so your use of tone colors , your pallet so to speak needs to be improved. I did not get that feeling of mystery or wonder that one can hear when they listen to Debussy. The tempo needs to eventually go up some. The right hand needs to stand out more from the left hand at various points and your soft playing and loud playing need a greater spread. With all that said this was beautifully played for only a month and I was comparing you to the likes of Richter, Robert Casadeus and Claudio Arrau. Yes I know , pretty heavy company. I suspect that several more months of work, and this would be truly something to listen to. Hope your post more often.

Current recital pieces
Chopin Fantasy Impromptu
Prokofiev Tocatta in D minor op 11
Schubert Wanderer Fantasy
Chopin Ballade in G Minor
Mendelssohn 2nd piano concerto

Hi Kelly, thanks for the wonderful advice; I think you are right, it needs some dynamic expansion and a broader sense of coloring. Thank you also for the compliments, I will work hard to get the best of this music!
