Ravel's 'Laideronnette, Impératrice des pagodes'
on: October 27, 2011, 03:53:57 AM
Hey again,

Does anybody happen to know any similar works to this Ravel one? I mean, with such a markedly oriental feeling to it. I've already got Tchaikovsky's 'Chinese Dance', by the way.

Cheers,

Debussy Pagodes from Images, Chinese Dance from The Nutcracker by Tchaikowsky, also perhaps the Oriental variation from Gershwin's Variations on "I Got Rhythm". ;)

Thank you so much for your suggestions, drkilroy!  ;) I've already got Tchaikovsky's 'Chinese Dance' but I didn't know about the other two so, cheers :) I'm sorry to reply until now, it's just I had some problems with the connection these last few days.

Best regards,

Try to look for pieces written in pentatonic scale. The most of them sound oriental, actually. :)
