Bach Sinfonia 7
on: November 06, 2011, 04:07:43 PM
Hello. I have trouble playing the eighteenth measure of this piece. I can play the upper voice and the lower voice, but I cannot play the first note, c sharp, of the middle voice because of the distance from the other notes. I can play it as a sixteenth note, but not as an eighth note, as it's written. I am wondering if there's something I am doing wrong. I need advice on playing this measure. Thanks.

Ignore it as an 8th note (play it as 16th but be sure not to just punch it. keep the c# sounding for as long as possible) or connect it with the pedal (carefully). Be sure not to muddle any of the other voices by connecting a middle voice with pedal. Bach's counterpoint can be very tricky, unlike much other music, you actually have to THINK before playing! :) Only kidding.

Enjoy your studies.
