How hard do you need to work to become a pianist?
on: November 13, 2011, 08:52:20 AM
It's not just about going to a lesson and practicing I know. I also know it's harder now than ever, with technology becoming ever more complicated. Could anyone perhaps give me some advice on just how hard it is? Which software do you need? Thank you.

What do you mean, software?  I'm confused.  I guess I wouldn't even consider a lesson with a piece of software, but I'm old fashioned, I guess.

Isn't everyone using digital software these days?

Software for what purpose? When I play the piano, I don't require software.

Or am I missing something?

i think it depends on your natural talent. i think i suck pretty bad so i have to work twice as hard on average for half the results.  good thing i have software, mine comes in the form of a really nice piano instructor, we're working on getting rid of the 'suck'...

Pianowolfi, LOL!
So, you and me and we all - we are computers, not human beings... we are software. Brilliant. Congratulations for your sense of humor. You have made may day!

No no, that wasn't what I actually meant, rather the opposite, my intention was to draw the thread starter's attention towards the real human resources instead of computers.

In terms of technology, well, podcasts might help. There are a lot of free podcasts out there that you can download. In terms of the real process of being a good pianist however, no software can and should match a man's DISCIPLINE, PERSEVERANCE and CREATIVITY.
