Scriabin - Piano Sonata no. 5, op. 53
on: November 17, 2011, 01:17:12 PM
First post here!
I'm 16 years old and I've started working seriously on becoming a pianist, although I know it's very hard.
I have been playing this work for about two and a half months, and I'm preparing for a competition very soon.

I just recorded it for fun (on my iPhone) so don't expect excellent audio quality. Also, one of the high C's on my grand is TERRIBLY out of tune. It kind of ruins the end of the piece, I'm so sorry about that. Also, I had to split the audio file in two parts, but I did record it in one "take" (no editing.)

Don't hesitate to comment and thanks for listening!

Dear 4242,
First, welcome to PS!
This is indeed a pitifully bad recording, so much so that it is difficult to hear when the pedal is up or down (it sounds as if it is down all the time), it is hard to distinguish legato from staccato, etc. Still, it sounds like you're on top of it, both structurally and rhythmically. So it would really make sense to invest in a proper recording and resubmit it for people to take a good listen to it.

It is the first time I heard this sonata and it sounds pretty good despite the audio quality.
