Bach - Prelude and Fugue in f# minor, BWV883 (WTC II)
on: November 19, 2011, 03:05:30 PM
the grind continues! after a couple concerts i resumed my bach preludes and fugues, this is the fantastic f# minor from book II. the prelude is an arioso type movement with a bit of light counterpoint in the lower two parts, a beautiful melody reminiscient in style of the second mvmt of italian concerto (which I;'ll be posting later) and perhaps variation 25 from Goldberg.

the fugue is a triple fugue with a very dramatic structure, it is a perfect example of bach's clarity of thought, the voices are all so melodic and extremely well-defined.  it makes it a joy to play, and hopefully also to lsiten

here is the prelude & fugue in f# from the first book:

Your Bach is very fine indeed. Definitely one of the best Bach interpreters!
