Grade 5 Piano Pieces

to start again, i cant read a bit of music,and i know this is slowing me down ALOT and i know everyone on this website can at least read music but,i cant and i just have not learned

But, look i can play arietta by grieg and they say its a grade 5 piece on this website
im looking for more grade 5 pieces, they say TRAUMEREI? is around this level? should i learn that? i only learn from videos online btw.

Anyone have a clue on where i should start with any grade 5 pieces that are fairly popular?

Here are some pieces I think are suitable for 5th grade:
Bach: Prelude in C major WTC 1
Beethoven:Fur Elise
Chopin: Prelude in E minor
Chopin: Prelude in C minor
Debussy: the little nigar
Michael Nyman: the heart asks pleasure first
Mancini: the pink panther

Grade 5 according to what? Grade 5 ABRSM? Grade 5 what?

No, there is no "universal" grading system that everyone knows. There are certain systems that have their own grading systems, that's why I asked grade 5 in what? ABRSM has like 8 grades? NMCP/TAP has 10, and there are others. So saying grade 5 doesn't really say what level it is.

However, if you give an example of a piece, as you did with Grieg's Arietta, then we can compare that to pieces at a similar level.

Pieces that are similar to that level would be:

Bach Little Prelude in E minor 941
Bach Prelude in C minor 999
Scarlatti in G L84 K63
Clementi Op 36/4
Kuhlau Sonatina Op 20/1 1st mvt
Chopin Waltz in A minor
Chopin Prelude in C minor
Burgmuller The Knight Errant
Kabalevsky Toccatina
Prokofiev Promanade

I think Fur Elise and Debussy's Le Petite Negre are more difficult.

Not true... The Grade 5 ABRSM exam is about the equivalent of the Grade 4 AMEB, and the Grade 7 & 8 ABRSM exams are about the equivalent of 2 grades lower in the AMEB. And I don't technically mean strictly in the pieces they choose, but their marking standard in AMEB is FAR stricter than the ABRSM...

And this is coming from someone who used to sit the ABRSM and pass... when I didn't deserve to.

the latter part of your response I agree with you. I used to see where people came out of AMEB exams crying for getting a B.... But the pieces of the grade are of or aorund the same difficulty.

Yes and Grade 5 ABRSM is equivalent to Grade 6 Royal Conservatory and TAP

Even though I haven't looked at the sheet music for traumerei for a long time I think it doesn't contain as much notes as other 7th grade pieces. To my memory, I think it contains some wide notes. So yes, I think you can learn that. Just watch out for expression. Some of Schumann's pieces are very 'delicate.'
