Hi!

I normally post in the instrument forum on issues of piano tuning but today there is something of wider interest.

Adolfo Barabino grew up listening to his Dad playing orchestral records on the gramophone. So he tried to extract the same tonalities out of the family piano . . . and became an international pianist. He plays the instrument as an orchestra . . . regarding every note as an individual player. He's fascinating to listen to and very musically illuminating and he's on radio today - tonight UK time 8-10pm but it will be afternoon in the US - on https://www.meridianfm.com/index.php press Listen Now.

He also does masterclasses which are brilliant https://www.pianomasterclass.info/ and often brings students to try the unequal temperament instruments at Hammerwood Park.

No doubt Adolfo will be talking about technique as an international concert artist and it's likely to be both interesting and revealing.

Best wishes

Hi!

For anyone who couldn't get the Adolfo Barabino interview last night I managed to record it -
Part 1 Scholarship and methodology of playing Chopin

Part 2 Achieving a sound and Unequal Temperament

Part 3 Musical inspirations:

Adolfo takes great care over the sound that the piano makes and this interview is most interesting for giving hints as to what is important to his technique.

Best wishes
