For women who play Schumann Romance Op. 28, No. 2
on: November 23, 2011, 11:33:05 PM
I am new to this forum and learning this lovely piece, and I cannot reach the diminished chord in the left hand ten bars from the end (outer notes b# and d#).  How do you play this chord?  I don't feel I can roll or break it because I would have to pedal to observe the tie, and I don't think I can pedal through the chromatic motive in the right hand.  I can't tell from the recordings I have listened to how other women who can't reach the whole chord handle this, except it sounded like one person just left off the top d#.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

Why don't you take the top note of the left chord with your right hand?
Funny? How? How am I funny?

I think I understand what you mean -- anyway, I figured out how to pick up a note with the other hand, and it works.  Thanks!
