Whereas most pre-depression uprights are posted "free haul it away please" on craigslist, the Steinway uprights are going for up to $500. Never heard one, myself. I can move a console with 1 helper but my upright moving days are over. I've got a 1941 40" console I bought off CL in 2010, a really good sounding piano that holds pitch very well. I Last tuned it the seventh time the month after I bought it. That is my only Steinway experience, other than admiring the tone from a distance.
I'd rather have a quality 100 year old upright at the front of the church now than the new muddy soft *****a 44" console they bought 8 years ago.
