rapid repeated notes with lh finger 5
on: November 28, 2011, 01:24:40 PM
Does anyone have any suggestions for playing CLEAR repeated sixteenth notes with the lh pinky?  This is an instance in which other fingers cannot be used, for the lh thumb (finger 1) is holding out a note an octave above while the sixteenth notes are being played.  Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Can you use alternating 545454?

Tried that, but can't reach the octave note above with a 1-4 hand position--not comfortably anyway

Try envisioning the left hand as playing a tremolo, but with the thumb, of course, silent and holding the octave note above.  In other words, use forearm/hand rotation to make the pinkie work.  Put the arm behind the pinkie and you'll see that it works that way.
Current repertoire:  "Come to Jesus" (in whole-notes)

The tremolo analogy is a great suggestion.  It will be tried today;thanks!
