Winter/Snow inspired pieces
on: December 06, 2011, 06:53:09 PM
Now we are just into winter, is there any piano pieces inspired by the snow or the season.
I am familiar with Debussy's Footprints in the snow and Chopin's Winter wind Etude, i was wondering if there are any more??

Thanks. i like the Corigliano, never heard it before.
Lugansky playing the Liszt is amazing, one of my favorites.
I was really looking for something that sounds "cold". I know it seems ridiculous to say that and you probably think im being picky.
Maybe something serene? Poignant? Isolated? If you get me...

Debussy's "Snow is dancing" from Children's Corner perhaps?
Best regards, Dr

debussy: the snow is dancing, from children's corner.
it's easy enough, I played it a year ago but it's very nice and gives the idea of the snow

Rachmaninov Etude-Tableau in D minor Op 33, No 4. Not specifically a winter piece but it has a distinctly 'icy' sound to it. Always reminds me of winter anyway!

i think this is okay to upload, made available by the australian notional library, i love agnew's stuff, totally underappreciated in this part of the world, the "australian scriabin" as he's called...
