free sheet music
on: December 16, 2011, 12:34:46 AM
Hi Everyone!!!!

I'm looking for some new sheet music... I'm about a level 4-5, I like about anything except for classical music. I'm more into the pretty flowing stuff. :) Any websites you could recommend or song suggestions?

TIA

this site is pretty good..  $7 for a month and you can download a lot of music (enough to last you years, decades even), and its all graded for you..  you can sort the pieces by grade to find something appropriate for you, and the editions are well set out and high quality..

alternatively go look at IMSLP.org

but ofcourse thats all effectively classical.. still.. saying you don't like classical music says to me you just havent listened to much of it and found stuff you like.

If you want something more recent I really think you should pay for it. High quality graded composing takes time and much knowledge.. if our composers don't make any money then they'll have to go work regular jobs and then we'll have no composers because they won't have time to write music.

word.

I knew a girl back in highschool who thought classical music was horrible and grating on her mind. She preffered bands like Korn or Slipknot. Go figure..  :P

Probably you haven't listened to enough classical music. You can try Beethoven's Fur Elise but of course you might find that peice very overplayed and perhaps a bit annoying. Still worth a  try though. Other suggestions are Joplin's the entertainer, Mancini's the pink panther theme, Michael Nyman's the heart asks pleasure first, Schifrin's mission impossible, and Badelt's arrangement of Pirates of the caribbean theme. Try having a look at Yiruma's compositions if you like some of his songs, especially 'the river flows in you' and 'when the love falls'.

lol...no I haven't listened to much classical music...but I'm playing some right now that is choppy and a lot of staccato notes. can't stand it. thanks for the suggestions.. i'll definitely check them out. :) I've played Fur Elise, and yes, it's pretty and flowy. But I do feel like it's overplayed and slightly annoying. haha I know lots of people on here love classical music, I've been trying to get into it more. But I haven't found any songs that I really like yet

at least you're open to discocevering the music. that said i want to at least offer something along the lines of what you might be looking for, i can't give you an origianl arrangement becuase of copyright laws but here is a a fan realization that for the most part sounds pretty good, shoudlnt' be too hard, i included a midi piano mp3 realization so you can have a guide.
