Music Theory Websites or Books?
on: December 19, 2011, 12:16:05 AM
Does anyone know of any music theory websites with exercises that one can work on? I am looking for exercises for myself and for students...something more in depth than basic chords analysis--perhaps something along the lines of figured bass analysis. I know of Tenuto, which is a fantastic interactive site, but I am more looking for something a bit more. If you don't know of any websites, how about some good workbooks? I ordered the Alfred's Basic Theory Course and thought it way too basic when I had a chance to look through it...

The theory books I've used are Dulcie Holland Master Your Theory. I only did grades 1-4.

For theory, I use Keith's Snell's Fundamentals of Piano Theory and Julie Johnson's Basics of Keyboard Theory. I use them in preparation for the Certificate of Merit theory evaluations. I'm currently working out of the level 8 books and I've used them since level 3.
