Goldberg variations
on: December 21, 2011, 08:46:10 PM
Hello, everyone

I'm here to ask you something. I think I have a prodige at home, my brother learned the Goldberg variations in one month and he can play it quite well.
His piano teacher says he's good, he's 18. But he doesn't seem to realize that one month for that piece is quite a record. I'm a pianist myself, not professionaly but I can play a good deal of pieces. Never tried anything like the GV, but I do think my brother is starting to show us he could be a great pianist.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

PD: I will upload his recordings soon.

Did he learn the whole thing, with all the variations? Because if so.. Well, that might be a record.. :P

I think I read that Rosalyn Tureck learned them in 5 months and then gave a public performance. I didn't believe it. I've been working on them for 8 years (I gave my first performance after 3 years).

Your brother seems to be an amazing talent. Please upload his recording  as soon as possible. Don´t use any cut and paste to make the recording sound better, I will notice ;)

I heard an amateur recording of the Hammerklavier a while ago, it sounded good but it was obviously edited in a computer afterwards.  :P
