He hasn't broken enough rules as I have but I agree with you. I thought he said he wouldn't post again a month ago but here he is again.

Having read 'the rules' I see that he hasn't broken them. Still, there should perhaps be a warning of possible ban to members that behave like that.

It doesnt seem like it's a common problem but really if your going post on the piano boards you should either have a legitimate question or be providing a constructive answer. He is just spamming the boards with pointless, and often rude comments.

Banning is a temporary solution. I've observed that kind of tenacity years ago on a different forum. It spanned years... and still he kept coming back.

I think every forum has such. I might even postulate... no forum is complete without that kind of user.

Well, come to think of it... doesn't "regular clean up" come to mind as part of the job description for an admin.

Oh yes I think he broke some rules, at least I though he did. A few of his posts have no relevance to the thread and are just plain silly. The 2-3 threads he started are in the wrong board. I have a feeling he/she might be back.

we could all band together and simply bump the first page of posts everytime one of his/hers nonsense comes up and simply bury the rubbish into the second page of threads on said respective board?

Or we can just simply 'report to moderator' which i think few of us ever bother to do. Those filth should be obliterated from the forum. Opium should never come back.

I think the costicina thing was a computer related thing.  It didn't make any sense.

Ehm.. :-[  :-[  :-[  :-[

Just now I happened to read this thread.

You mentioned me, and I think you were referring to my daughter's clumsy attempt  to post her recording of Schumann  as a present to me. I pleaded Nils to delete her insensate posts, and made a public apologize  for the annoyance.

Anyway, if you find that my posts in general are useless, irrelevant or break the rules in any other way, please let me know with a PM or another kind of warning....

Thank you

But presumably your "reporting" was unsuccessful, which is hardly surprising since "being drop dead lovely and likely to induce erratic heart beats" is not and has never been (at least as far as I am aware) contrary to forum rules.

By the way, how's that weight of yours these days, Thal?

I'll be straightforward "JL". IMO you have nothing to feel embarrased or ashamed of.

Put it simply, regardless of the circumstances (an emotional present or whatever), if there was something not right going on with costicina's account it should be reported. Think about this, if someone hacked it, you were helping both costicina and Nils (the forum admin I gather IIRC) by reporting it. Let's be honest isn't that the truth? In the end both will be thankful to you for bringing it quickly to their attention.

What I'm worried about is, because of this **********  discussion, everyone will be afraid to report the oddities of other user's activities (i.e. don't report it or talk about it, you might cry later on for doing so... omg jesus imagine a community as lax as that).

I'll be thankful for what you did. If it happened to my account, I'd be thankful that you immediately brought it to the admin's attention.

I'm sorry again, there are a lot of users pissing me off here lately. I'm taking an indefinite leave from pianostreet, and given my latest string of being a "jerk", I wouldn't be surprised if quite a majority will be happy for it  ;D

TBH I don't want to be a jerk but I noticed that this community is forcing me to be one. Like, someone opening the door to being "insensitive", ok ****** let's be insensitive, great I became a ************** in a split second there.

But it was not Margeritawho was posting but another person from the family who was attempting to post. You provided a bit of 'consolation' to me when I read ur post. In a way I feel like I'm a dibby dobber and I don't want to be that type of person yet I want to be some forum-law abiding guy. Thankfully I haven't reported Costicina because she is a great asset on pianostreet and that was after all just an accident. I'd prefer if this incident is buried deep into my memory, never to be forgotten. I wish there was a pensieve. ;D

I know I have the right to report the previous incident but I think it is inappropriate that I posted something regarding the incident and then leave it there after the incident had been fixed. I don't see that anyone reported me when I was posting 50 times a day.....

It will be very unlikely that anyone would report a person who is posting too much unless the material in the post is irrelevant to the topic being discussed. Besides, you really are not posting that much compared to when I was in my heyday here a few months ago.
The Mod told me to post max 5 times a day and each with at least 5 sentences. I made it harder for myself to write 5 lines at least.

You really are not breaking any rules I'm aware of and are unlikely to get told off anytime soon. Less likely than me in fact.

There is one member that is puzzling me at the moment but I won't give the name. In one of the posts, X claims to have registered 2 months ago but I checked their profile and it contradicted that post. Possibly X might have had a second acocunt or maybe it is just an error/typo. Does the rules state a person can only have one account?

Has anyone else noticed the "unread posts" being eliminated in a matter of hours?  I used to come back to the computer after a few days and find 2 pages packed with unread post.  Now, it's usually very sparse.  Not a bad idea actually.  I used to just cancel them all as "read".  So what I do now, is at least visit the audition room to see if I've missed someone's recordings.  Wow, I never knew there were these strict rules of making threads.  All in all, though, i think this site is one of the best around.

Has anyone noticed anything suspicious these days? I think I might have. Very highly unlikely but somehow my guts tell me that 1 person is using two persona and posting at the same time. Nils would have known and have banned them right away but since that hasn't appened I doubt them two are the same person. It's just what I think.
And people trying to create topics, and instead use the 'polls'. Annoying.

How recently? The past few days? If so we might be suspecting the same person. I ususally think that Hoaxers and spammers make really short posts and sometimes stupid and pointless to the topic. I know you guys must ahve first htought I was a spammer when I posted so much. I wasn't aware of the forum rules at the time.

Of course this doesn't apply to every body because sometimes I enjoy and cherish people posting short reponses like Thal. I'm just saying that there are some people that you might have a gut feeling to be spammers as they lurk and post for a while. Usually I find the feeling passes as they assimilate into PS culture.

Lately in the Audition room I've noticed people being accused of stealing other pianist's recordings and whatnot. I really think people need to stop doing this. I mean yes, there have been hoaxers in the past, but I don't see why someone should be accused of plagiarism just because they posted a good recording without a video.

Or editing a recording. Editing is fine by me. And those people coming from the PW that cross over into the audition room and try starting a war and posting meaningless pathetic rubbish about other member's recordings. If the OP told all their details of hte recordings i.e.'This has been edited or 'mistakes have been erased' then there is no point for the thread trashers to start a war. This is Bulls*(&. If the recordings are still standing after something like a week then we know that the recording was authentic.

I too did notice there is a lot of finger pointing going on in the Audition Room.  It seems there are several discussions taking place that originated in other forums.  This has gone even so far as to be discussing the moderating actions on other those said forums.

Indeed, and sometimes I get a gut feeling they might be deleted by Nils because earlier in the Miscellaneous board there was a topic about a 'rant about PW and a question about modeators here'. That topic was deleted, for some reason. But off topic discussion is common but disturbing. I often find that the discussions are further fuelled by other members crossing over here from PW and saying this and that. If only the OP had some power...

I believe liszt85 was reported by hakki, therefore making nils delete the topic. I'm not 100% sure though, I just thought I read somewhere that hakki was going to report him. I could be wrong though.

So as soon as someone presses the 'report to moderator' button, does that mean instant deletion of topic, no matter how inappropriate? I found that topic to be quite interesting and had been following it blow by blow. I think Nils should create a thread for every deleted topic indicating it's deletion i.e. similar to when he moves topics.

Then we have a different suspect. But with the user having posted for a month I highly doubt she/he is a hoaxer/spammer after all.

No, a report does not mean instant deletion. Though, since it was deleted, Nils must have found something wrong with it. Anyhow, I stopped reading it after I responded, which was quite early in the thread, so I can't say whether there was a good reason for it's destruction.

Possibly Nils censors everything to do with PW and the criticism of the website. That was an interesting thread.

I agree with you. I find posts disappearing with no warning whatsoever here. It isn't a very nice experience, to say the least. The PW thread was deleted in its entirety though many people told me via PM that they thought what I said about it was accurate. Nils probably has contact with some of the "powerful" people at PW. I see no other reason for him to have done so. In any case, after being here for sometime, I realize that no forum is perfect. PW has its issues with authoritarian behavior from the mods and other influential members there, pianostreet has an issue with random deletions of posts as and when the moderator feels like doing so, without offering an explanation. On PW, a post deleted would be replaced by a reason from the mod (not true with the ban though, they didn't offer me a proper explanation when I requested them for one. I bet they didn't have a very good reason).

I expect this post to be gone by tomorrow. If not, Nils probably didn't read it. I don't know why he deletes anything that has to do with PW. I posted that in the appropriate forum too (anything but piano).

And I thought pianostreet forum and pianoworld were rivals. There was nothing explicitly bad in the Rant about PW thread. Perhaps it just offended PW. Sometimes when Nils/mod/admin deletes a topic a thread about deleting the topic will be discussed in the PF website board and sometimes Nils offers an explanation which justifies his actions and we all come to an understanding of why he deleted the topic. Still, I think the best way is when Nils deletes the topic, I think he should start a topic indicating deletion. I expect this post to be gone by tommorow too....

I'm not a big fan of when Nils deletes a topic.  I wish there was a thread graveyard where you could see if a thread got deleted, visible at least in title.  Or if Nils had his own list somewhere of threads that were deleted.

One easy solution.... Just post a new "what do you think of Piano World" thread up in Anything But.  Nils may have deleted it if it was in the wrong category, although he usually just moves them.  I would guess he didn't think there was anything of value going on in the thread though.

One easy solution.... Just post a new "what do you think of Piano World" thread up in Anything But.  Nils may have deleted it if it was in the wrong category, although he usually just moves them.  I would guess he didn't think there was anything of value going on in the thread though.

I think that warrants automatic deletion. People will just swear off the top of their heads and go into rants about how bad or how good PW is.

I'm not a big fan of when Nils deletes a topic.  I wish there was a thread graveyard where you could see if a thread got deleted, visible at least in title.  Or if Nils had his own list somewhere of threads that were deleted.

+1. Perhaps a sticky thread with all the titles of the threads and date of deletion, reason for deletion etc.

And this thread has turned from telling Opium off into a thread about mysterious disappearance of topics...

I understand that, and I wasn't trying to offend you. I was just saying that its not that big of deal. Nils deletes topics sometimes, and if people want to know why it was deleted, then they should message him about it. He'll probably give a good answer.

As I read some earlier posts, he usually doesn't justify his actions for deleting topics until a topic is raised in the PF site concerning the deletion of the topic. Most of the explanations are valid enough. Sometimes I read threads and as the topic is going on in a good way, some guy might just gatecrash and post bad stuff, enough to provoke Nils to take action and delete the entire topic instead of the bad posts. Perhaps there is some censorship afterall...
