My piano related new years resolution is to perfect the incredibly difficult triads in left hand of measures 90-155 in Bartok- Rondo on a Folk Tune no. 2. I still have to play them very slow. It's difficult to play them really fast and still maintain a clean sound.
Yeah, I know, it's kind of a short term resolution but it's still quite difficult for me.

Awesome!

Exactly what I started with on New Years Eve. I haven't played in a recital since 1996 and am really trying to get my old talent and memory back. I do play a lot but not classical lately. This is my resolution. I'm going to learn many new songs and finish them instead of jumping around to new pieces when I don't feel like learning the rest of one.

Goals this year -

Hungarian Rhapsoday 2 (Liszt) by May 2012 - I got 5 months, and just began it.
Prelude in G Minor (Rachmaninoff) by July 2012 - Almost have it up to speed.
Intermezzo in E Flat Minor (Brahms) - Touch this up as it was in memory 16 years back.
Liebestraume - Practice this until I'm back to my 1996 standard of this.
Clair de Lune (Debussy) - Actually learn this past page 2, I always stop there, lol.

And of course, all my typical pop I do like all the Elton songs, Lady Gaga and everything else. But you know how those are, so easy to play when you are used to the real stuff like above. So, I got my party songs I'm working on along with the show stoppers. Wish me luck. I'm going for a goal of at least 3-4 hours practice per day this year. It helps that I got a new piano last year, well 1898  upright Steinway but new to me and kicks my cheap Baldwins ass and sounds the way the classics would have sounded back in the day.

hmm my repertoire goals are likely  to change but i feel like 2012 will be a year where i pick up pieces i started in the past but put down due to time constraints on being able to learn them (mostly just started reading after i decided i wouldn't mind living with them for many months).

among them (this is an organic and constantly evolving list) are:
video game works:

i think these two in particular are brilliant

Uematsu- Those Who Fight

Shimomura - Musique pour la tristesse de Xion

transcriptions:

Prokofiev - Op 75 No 6 Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet Op.75 No.6 Montagues and Capulets

others are still forming, usually more stuff from the normal standard i tend to pick closer to when i will actually begin learning them, i have a LOT of music on my to do list right now i hope to get it all knocked out and performed by the end of the summer.

4941,
Out of those three I liked the technique of Shimomura - Musique pour la tristesse de Xion...

yeah it's quite nice. i may have to scrap the idea and only work the shimomura if i decide to do the gerswhin rhapsody transcription (the herman wasserman edited version). that would take most of my time over several months to learn properly i.e. summer study, fall polish for a late fall performance.

pm me if you want an mp3 from the official album (much better performance). if you want to import the score, i can't recommend my normal guy  Tetsuya in japan, he's fantastic and even if it isn't on his site, you can contact him and he'll find whatever you're looking for.

My resolution is to stop wasting time, and start actually learning several pieces a month.

Both sight reading improving and more improv could be a good goal, only don't just focus on difficulty, rather explore what kind of music and what composers you like most, and try to work with that!

I want to improve my sight reading. It has always been horrible. I am trying to spend at least a few minutes a day working on it.  Also trying to make myself spend at least 30 minutes a day on scales and other technique exercises which is what my teacher recommended.

Well, I have a current list of ~60 pieces to be learned this year, but I wouldn't call this a New Years Resolution!  ;D

I want to have learnt at least 4 pieces and take my piano exam at the end of the year, and learn one piece on my own if possible. Also I want to make more use of time and procrastinate less as well as learning pieces more efficiently and faster.

Heh those are thing I'm told I am good at. Well the improvisation I am finally learning with a band I'm playing, in which I play from a completely different perspective than I'm used to.

For me sticking to practicing the little scales and decorations is the hardest thing and definitely my New Years Resolution
