Refresh button
on: January 05, 2012, 02:17:12 AM
Is it possible to have a refresh button at the bottom of each thread/forum home so that we can view the same page updated without having to exit it?

Done.  We installed an F5 button on your keyboard.  Or ctrl-R.

Thanks Bob, I'll try to remember that. I was hoping for a refresh button because there are so many shortcuts to remember and by having the refresh function it will save me the bother of remembering the shortcut.

F5 reminds me of tornadoes too.

Good thing about F5 is that it works on all websites.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Why bother hitting one button?  That's so much work....

https://www.urlreload.com/

As long as it's nothing sensitive, passwords, etc.  Let the page reload itself.

Firefox also has an add-on Check4Change that works well too.  It signals you with an alert when the page (or highlighted text) changes.

when I hit F5 it doesnt refresh, rather it is a shortcut to open a file (brings up a file browser type window)

Try again, AJSpiano. It should work or otherwise I think there is something wrong with your computer shortcuts. It worked for me. I tried it cirtually in every website. Maybe you might have to press a different F button.

I think it's because it's a nonstandard keyboard. It's drivers have a different set of shortcuts assigned, as far as I can tell there is not one for refresh..

There should be. Check and recheck. Check your computer manual instructions for some shortcuts and see if there is any. Bad luck that you have a nonstandard keyboard...

BTW, what do you mean by nonstandard keyboard?

Just that its got extra buttons on it as well as the standard keys, and they are all asignable to my choice of function..

The F5 key definately does not refresh, infact the F keys are assigned to these functions in order from 1-12

help, undo, redo, new, open, close, reply, forward, send, spell, save, print.

I know this because the words are written on the keys, not because i tested them out.
