One of my favorite recordings (and one of my favorite pieces) is Pollini playing Chopin sonata op. 58. I have always preferred this one to the more famous "funeral march" sonata op. 35. Pollini's recordings of the Etudes are great too.

Happy B'day Pollini. Two of my favourite recordings were the sonata in b-flat minor and the Chopin etudes. I usually use the Etudes as a reference point while listening. I even have his sonata recording in my ipod. I enjoyed his recording of Chopin's Heroic Polonaise op53. Some parts were different to what I was used to hearing such as the giant rolled chords, which he played in blocks. Another honorable recording was the Petrushka which I think is the best recording possible.
