I usually don't like stuff like this, but I'll tell you why this isn't terrible:
- It doesn't do the cliche "repeat opening melody - LOUDER" at the end.
- An admirable length, it doesn't have many ideas in the piece but the piece
acknowledges
that and just gives what it has and gets it over with, I wish more works were so breif - I don't usually enjoy chorus based stuff in piano music.
My problems with it arn't really objective, it's sounds sort of "sappy" to me, but I see that in most "new age" piano music, but to be honest I don't know what makes it "new age" at all - it doesn't sound anything like traditional New Age stuff.
People call this stuff new age for the silly reason that it's instrumental and melodic/somewhat vapid, and everyone has this conception that a "classical" piano piece has to be serious, complex, cerebral and it has to modulate atleast 60 times or something :p
But I digress, good job.
The picture is clearly of Autumn, not December, by the way.

This is a very nostalgic and introspective work...I really enjoyed it! I recall my old piano teacher once telling me that motifs are what make piano music, and music in general, listenable and interesting but, after enjoying this succinct beauty, I've come to believe that's clearly not always the case.
Regards,
Brian
