Selecting a new Piece of Music
on: January 06, 2012, 11:08:56 PM
I was wondering is anyone aware of an online listing of Piano pieces that rates them by difficulty. I'm at that point where I am about to move onto a new piece of music. It is always so difficult to select one. I generally tend to learn what I like to listen to which sometime gets me into trouble because they are difficult. I was thinking if there was a list with ratings I could use it to compare with ones I've already learned.

I'm not sure if this is clear. Any input will be appreciated.

I doubt you'll find anything specific online, your best shot is a syllabus like the RCM one, in which you can see what pieces are ranked at what grade, its worked for me before...you could also try googling "liszt pieces ranked, chopin etudes difficulty etc."  or just ask on this forum, just give a list of what you've played before and how troublesome they were  :P.

My advice is maybe you should pick out your favorite pieces and you could put there name on a piece of paper rip them out throw them in a bowl and shake it then pick one :)

Hopefully this helped you that would be my option.
But Jesus looked at them and said "With man this is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible!"<br /><br />~Jesus Matthew 19:26
