Bach - Prelude and Fugue in G major, BWV860 (WTC I)

the prelude and fugue in G major from the first book; as the g major from the second book opened bartok's first collection, this g major opens bartok's second book. confusing!

anyways the prelude is very familiar and i think also exists in the same or smaller version in a collection fr W.F. Bach or something along those lines; it's very much in etude style. the fugue i fell in love with for its clear lines, charm, wit and brilliance. it is requiring a lot of finger dexterity in the voice-leading, though it is not virtuosic to the ear.  bach uses the inversion of the subject andc ounter subject, as well as some stretto. its a wonderful fugue

here's the g major from the second book

You play the prelude very quickly like most pianists - I prefer a lively, but more relaxed tempo. Nevertheless your articulation is excellent as always!  Enjoyed the fugue enormously -

Exemplary bach playing!  Wonderful.  Fine use of pedal.  The way Bach should be played on a piano - using all it's expressive possibilities.  I, too, like the prelude a little slower, but you bring it off brilliantly.  Bravissimo - or bravissima (?)

O!  ;)

thanks for the comments. i should really play the prelude slower; i feel the same way about my recording of G major from book II. since i recorded that in june, i played it n public several times and it has slowed down considerably. sometimes it takes repeated eexposure to find the exact tempo...
