I read this suggestion at some point in a different thread, but it was buried quite deeply..

Does anyone agree that we could control the forum garbage if new members were required to post X number of times before they would be allowed to start a new topic?

Let me guess.... is this because of all the "hi, im new here" threads that keep popping up everywhere?

Honestly, they don't bother me too much, but I think newcomers should take more advantage of the Introduction thread in the Anything But Piano board instead of starting a completely new topic each time.

It is not a problem that they pop up in the student's corner board. I think it is a problem that they inappropriately name the threads and perhaps some of the content too. The threads maybe should be called like 'beginner looking for pieces to play' or 'beginner repertoire suggestions'. When one guy posts this type of thread others will follow a la domino effect. It seems to me that most of the people who join do not read the forum rules even once and so as a result breaks them.

I've seen one guy using pianostreet like a promotional tool and place his recordings all over the place and even interrupted a thread by embedding a video instead of posting relevant material. I thought that person was a spammer at first.

Hmmm... I think every new member should get an automatic message to read the rules.

It's getting to me! Can those intro threads in student's corner just be chucked into the Intro thread in the Anything but piano board? Them threads in no way satisfy any criteria to post there. Of course I'm NOT trying to deter anyone from posting their probls there. This is madness!
