Chopin op.22 video on request
on: January 25, 2012, 11:29:14 PM
Due to some suspicions from two users that my previous audio post was too good to be me playing I was asked to post the video of that recording for proof.

Here it is:

I admire you for this recording and of course I stand corrected and I am deeply sorry.  The various hoax recordings that have been posted on this site have made me very unsure and mistrusting. And I noticed a really great difference between your other recordings and videos and this one. It's a really convincing and lively performance and it's by far the best recording I have heard/seen from you. It's true, real Chopin and I enjoyed it very much! You have improved on this piece significantly since your Paris contribution and I can only say hats off and bravo!!

And btw I don't mind the "rushed" finale. It's true bravura and temperament and to me it fits the piece and the situation perfectly :)

Bravo, hakki!

This is a brilliant performance of Op. 22!  I especially appreciated your playing of all the delicate filigree almost constantly present in this work.  You display an extraordinary dexterity in that regard.  And you definitely play the long line of this lyrical piece music.  It's a truly artistic performance in every way.  Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your marvelous rendition/recording with us.

+1. Please accept my apologies too. This is a HUGE improvement over Paris, and you deserve all the credit in the world. Good luck.

Hi Hakki,
I was so sorry you were suspected tobe a hoax... somehow I felt that this suspicion was groundless, and I'm so happy that you have proved what a great, brilliant pianist you really are!!!

Please, don't be angry with Wolfi: as he explained, we all have had in this forum bitter experiences of betrayal of our bona fide, that have instilled into us the bad germ of suspicion....

Anyway, I enjoyed very much your performance. You are a very fine interpreter!!!!!

Thanks for sharing, and post more videos!!!!

Wow,

what can I say, sometimes I felt bad on this forum with all the hoaxes too, and it is a shame that you need to prove yourself this way, but the hoaxes are at blame here. It is great to see a sincere performance like this here, well done! You got my attention in the video from the start till the end.

Beautiful, played with a lot of experience. You should be flattered that people thought you where a hoax, well done. What mics did you use and where did you put them?

no need to proof. These days we can syn seperate video files and soundfiles. What counts is your own ineer feelings towards to your achievmenet what you enjoyed the most. Cheating is a low act -another form of low self esteen or lack of self cofidence in society. :D

One should strive the best in a positive way...

Thank you all for the warm comments  :) :) :)

In fact, it was me who had incidentally revealed the becky hoax, by finding the video on youtube that was identical to one of her so called recording. And being someone who has exchanged views in a few of these hoax threads I had really felt very bad because of being deceived, both for myself and also for all the other members who had put a lot of time and effort to reply to those hoax threads.
In this regard I can understand the concerns of some posters.

lostinidlewonder:

I am using a pair of Rode NT 5 mics with the omni capsule installed on them.
I am recording the video by Zoom Q3HD, and the main reason I prefer it is, because it has a line-in port. I connect the mics to my Soundcraft Sprit Notepad mixer, and connect the master output of the mixer to the line in of the Zoom Q3HD. When an input is connected to the line-in of the Zoom Q3HD, it automatically disables its two onboard mics and gets the audio from line-in. It is very convenient, since this way there is no need to sync the audio and video.

I prefer an A-B stereo pair setup. That is, the mics are parallel to each other, about 50 cm apart , at 130 cm high from floor, and placed about 40-50 cm away from the side of the piano. I hard pan the mics left and right, the left mic being the one closer to the player and right closer to the tail of the piano. Since the acoustics of the room is not very good, adding some concert hall effect enhances the sound.

Bravo.  that was really IMPRESSIVE playing.  I don't know how I missed this.  I think it's because they're eliminating "post unread" after they accumulate in just a hours.  Your filligree work is exquisite.  It's expressive and not just tiddly wink stuff.  I do agree the finale felt a bit rushed.  But just to be able to play it that fast is astounding!  I was fascinated by your basically flat fingers in the technical passages.  Like you're playing from your first and second knuckles.  At any rate, it was a beautiful rendition.  I'm only sorry you didn't play the andante spianato!

What a masterful playing of this piece. I've never heard it before but made a favourable impression on me. You certainly can't make a hoax from a video.
