Any one has viewed/purchased this set of DVDs?  Useful tips and analyses?  Though Barenboim is not my most favourite pianist, if I could play like him, I would laugh for years, even when dreaming.

symphonicdance :

I have viewed the entire set of the Beethoven Sonata masterclasses with Barenboim, and I find them excellent.  Barenboim is not only a fine Beethoven performer, even if not to everyone's taste, but is also an excellent teacher.  I admire the depth and scope of his knowledge, his ability to communicate clearly and his sympathetic tact in dealing with the student performers on these videos.

Regards,

I have this set too.  Although the masterclasses are too advanced for me at the moment, I recommend them heartily.
Beethoven - Sonata in C sharp minor, Op 27 No 12
Chopin - Fantasie Impromptu, Nocturn in C sharp minor, Op post
Brahms - Op 118, Nos 2 & 3

you should also check out Andras Schiff masterclass series too. I have them on audio, but gives some great insight into every single Beethoven sonata.  Here is the link. They are all free to download. A must listen.

I also like barenboim on beethoven DVD set. The concert series are very good. Some I don't like as much as Schiff or Brendel but worth to see all.

BTW.. Barenboim DVD on the Beethoven Concertos are exceptional.

I have this problem with Amazon not available to ship this DVD set to my country. Are you guys somehow able to help me. And the whole hour videos are not available on youtube also. If you have them, can you send me the masterclass on the 16th piano sonata op.31 no.1. I'm playing it on a competition next week, so the masterclass will come very handy :D

yes, but one masterclass lasts about one hour... This masterclass you sent me on the sonata op.31 no.1 lasts around 15 minutes. I need it whole.

You can buy them through amazon, but you need to use a supplier other than the default.  Go to the 27 new from $x... link and choose any of the suppliers that have an International & Domestic Shipping Rate (not just a Domestic Shipping Rate) and they will ship to you.  Amazon is a bit weird in this respect, but I have always found this way to work for me.
