i'd have to think long and hard on some of the categories but right off the top of my head my vote for  four (you mentioned misc. so i'll use that for transcriptions though i think they should be their own category)

fugue-Taneyev- Fugue in g# minor from Prelude and Fugue in g# minor Op 29
wickedly hard:

Etude-Gyorgy Ligeti's 'Devil's Staircase (L'escalier du diable) (famous for the Shepards scale and the dynamic marking 'ffffffff'

transcription-Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite (Danse Infernale, Berceuse, Finale) arranged by Guido Agosti(this is my favorite video of it)

concerto (i'll use this for a piano plus orchestra work not neccessarily a concerto/sonata form)
Strauss Burlesque d minor for piano and orchestra (i think this was called unplayable for a little while)

Are you talking strictly standard repertoire? Go look at the some of the works of sorabji or even serial composers. Most of these works are near impossible for an average pianist.

Most technically difficult piece with significant musical qualities or most technical overall?

Most technically difficult piece that has been performed with accuracy and uptempo  live or most demanding ever written?

I am not a big fan of OC but it sounds better then any serial or new complexity music for piano that I have heard for sure.

I have only heard parts of Powell performing OC live but it sounds like he was pretty accurate.

Hamelin for instance has performed extremely hard pieces live but most of them are pretty short compared to OC. It takes an incredible amount of stamina and technique to perform OC uptempo without any significant mistakes or skipped notes.

Well Liszt's B minor sonata is more difficult that all of the other Liszt works you suggested::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Probably not his goal, but it works for that anyway.  :D

the liszt b minor sonata is probably more difficult than the chasse-neige, but not the others

I think you need to broaden your horizons concerning Liszt and other composers.  The Transcendental etudes aren't even Liszt's hardest pieces, and your list shouldn't be all Liszt.no pun intended.  I don't even know if any Liszt would qualify to be on that list at all.  Once again, no pun intended..  He's not the only composer with crazy stuff.

Anyways, is there a way to delete this thread by any chance?

Nope. Consider it a testament to your personal growth; rather like an embarrassing baby pic.
