Beethoven - "APPASIONATA" - Complete - Enzo
on: February 01, 2012, 02:42:45 AM

1st  movement (first 3 minutes is AUDIO only)

                  2nd  and  3rd  movements

In the 1st post about 2 months ago, it was the observation of a good number including Kelly_C (remember her?) that the finale portion of the 3rd movement was a "rush", that Enzo was on a race against himself.  His teacher and Enzo decided to retain the tempo and work on imrpoving control which seems better this time. Hope you agree.

This was during practice where I absentmindedly left the record button of the camcorder at "PAUSE" for the 1st three minutes. The video therefore only comes in on the 3rd minute of the first movement.  My apologies.!!!    It was good that I had 2 microphone setups so that I was able to completely record the audio .... however the 1st three minutes sounds a bit different due to differences in microphone positions and brands.  THANKS for listening.

THANKS for any comment . . . . ..

Enzo's  interpretation is BEAUTIFUL.. an awesome job, really! If not for the video (and Enzo's previous performances)  one could think he too is an hoax...So young and such e refined, deep musicality. BRAVO BRAVISSIMO!!!
Really, Emill, it was a joy to listen, thank you for sharing..

Jesus, you deserved a standing ovation, for what I hear. I can only praise Enzo for the near perfect performance. I so anticipated the 1st mvt but shame you forgot. I thought towards the end it sounded a bit unstable but I think I'm wrong. Such a powerful rendition!
Overall, the speed was very controlled and I think Enzo is right in maintaining the tempo but working on greater control. From what I hear, there really is nothing for Enzo to improve on.

It is hard getting old! lol!!

With age comes wisdom too, not to worry.  ;D

You succeeded in making the fast tempo in the finale convincing -very well done.

I also think you have set the bar very high for anyone else wanting to post a performance of this great sonata.  I was hoping to one day, but not now - ;D
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

So Many thanks to Costicina,  Pianoplayjl and Starstruck5 for their kind and generous comments.

We are happy that this 2nd attempt at this beautiful sonata is better received than the one posted 2 months ago.  Makes Enzo more confident that he will be able to perform this sonata well in his upcoming recital.

edit:  we just posted the 1st movement above and wish that you will find the time to listen. THANKS!!!

Hi Enzo and emill,

Bravo!  I totally enjoyed listening to this "Appassionata"!  Your performance is truly remarkable.  You play this music with a maturity beyond your years.  I especially liked the control and evenness of articulation, your wide range of dynamics, attention to accents, the poetry and the fire, judicious pedaling, and the playing of the long melodic line.  There is musicianship and artistry here.  I also noticed even in those places where the music is in a frenzy, you sit more quietly on the bench now.  I noticed it right away and believe that you better channel your energy that way, and yet you can play with much freedom too.  You also display economy of motions throughout.  Good!

With this performance you've established a "high bar" for other pianists here thinking of playing this sonata.

Very impressive!

I subscribe every work of David's comment. Magnific performance!!!!

P.S. BTW, it's Appassionata, not Appasionata  ;)  ;)  ;)
