Dusty Hands after 15 years
on: February 01, 2012, 06:03:28 PM
Hey all,

To introduce myself, I started playing piano when I was 3, and did so competitively until I was 16. After my last competition, (my piano teacher disowned me), I then played for pleasure, and developed an aversion to performing.

I then stopped playing all together when my autistic son was born, when I was 24.

Now, my son is doing well, he is now 15. I have a daughter that is 5, and since she was born, of course, always had the love for piano music.

Now, I can actually sit down and practice for at least an hour a day. Even if its not all at once.

The thing is, I am getting frustrated at my lack of technique. in my head, I am nimble, but in my head, fingers dont listen.

Well, that is better than having nimble fingers and a head that don't listen.

You certainly have a few years of practise behind you, so I am sure your technique will not take long to come back.

Thanks.. I am approaching it completely different than when I was kid. I practice for like 15 minutes at a time, and its made such a huge difference.

That website really really helped me. I cant beleive that I played piano for all those years, and did not even know a little bit of this stuff!  That website rocks! (like this one)
