I wish I didn't have to worry about the possibility that the religious right could gain complete power in the next American election. I couldn't help being glad that Santorum dropped out, even though, to be practical, it would have been better to hope he got the nomination just so people could be more apt to be turned off by the Republican party. I get so tired of being expected to be a Christian or to pretend to be a Christian. I get so tired of all these threats to ban abortion, when even China allows it. I get so tired of these laws against importing fruits and vegetables from Cuba when allowing such imports might make food cheaper in the winter. I get so tired of these threats to bring back official prayers in the schools. I'm in the process of rediscovering Paganism. The ancient Greeks and Romans had it right when they were polytheistic. The trouble with monotheism is that so many people, if they believe in only one god, start looking for someone else on this planet to be a god or goddess for them, and naturally, they wind up disappointed. I, on the other hand, don't expect anybody to be a god or goddess to me. I just expect them to be ethical and consistent. Different people do different things best.
