i'll limit this one to arrangement/transcriptions i'll need a bit more time to think about paraphrases,

most of mine are from my growing collections of final fantasy piano collections scores (these are advanced/'artistic' versions of themes versus the sound track versions).

1. Final Fantasy IX Piano Collections The Final Battle
has a lot of great energy and tonally so interesting after the intro

2.a Final Fantasy XIII Piano Collections March of the Dreadnoughts

b.
also from same collection, (i'm reading through this now as a 'pallate cleanser' i hope to record this summer), Lightnings Theme ~ Blinded by Light
really great transition between themes at around 2:00

3 from the second volume of Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections "Field and Battle" -Medley of Conflict

a few others i'll add on later.

I defy anyone to listen to this and not immediately add it to their list of favourites.

Liszt's arrangement of Wagner's Liebestod brings tears in my eyes, though I've only listened to Horowitz's playing of it.

I prefer the Liszt arrangement of Saint-Saens Danse Macabre and Gounod's Faust waltz to the originals.

I like Liszt's arrangement of Chopin's A Maiden's Wish, the only successful transcription of a Chopin piece in my opinion.

And Rachmaninoff's arrangements of Liebesfreud and Liebeslied by Kreisler are very good. Far better than the originals.
Ravel Jeux D'eau
Brahms 118/2
Liszt Concerto 1
Rachmaninoff/Kreisler Liebesleid

10 years ago when I first heard the Tausig/Weber Invitation to the Dance, i thought it was the finest transcription written.

Never changed my mind on this one.

My playing of it would also bring tears to your eyes. Completely different reason, though. :'(

I haven't heard Horowitz version, only Barenboim's which is surprisingly weak.

I don't think so. A full version of the Pabst was on youtube (pf. Earl Wild) but I think now there is only an 1890s (!) extract recording by the composer himself. All the others you should be able to find.

This might be self-publicising... but remember that Medley being played over the top of Mario scenes and sound effects... I think it was called Automatic Mario

I arranged it for 4 hands.    ;D
