Chopin Scherzo 2 (practice random take)
on: February 12, 2012, 06:00:58 AM
Predicted comments and anticipated replies

Piano is out of tune:
I apologize. My piano constantly breaks strings. Sometime I hold out the tuning for as long as I can since another string might break.

Low quality sound:
My apologies. This is a random take during my practice. This is how it went down. I'm practicing then out of the blue, I took my ipad and told myself:

"Okay, random selection. No preparation. No dilly dally. No deep breath. Play it now and let's see the real progress. To make things a lot worse you'll post this and people will comment on it."

That's my sadistic side acting on myself. Let the community butcher me for my incompetence. Here's the mp3, not edited, not cleaned suggestion: lower the volume to make it tolerable.

My gratitude to anyone who manages to endure the whole piece and give some meaningful comments. Thanks.

ok, listened to my recording, there's a hissing like nails on a chalkboard. That's me being tense and breathing through my teeth. This is really embarassing, aside from the mistakes.

Hi Jesc,
In the whole, you did a great job!!
Now that you have mastered the technical challenges of the piece, you can focus on interpretation. Sometimes you tend to rush too much, especially in the “con anima section”, so that many details get lost; I think I detected some mistakes in rhythm, too, due to the too fast tempo you chose. Of course the bad sound quality doesn’t help.
Anyway this is only a subjective impression, other more competent forumeers will be able to give you better advices. And again: bravo!!!!!

Thanks. I appreciate your patience to go through that low quality recording :) When I was preparing the audio I was pretending to be listening to some bad recording back in the 50s just to tolerate listening to it again and again as I optimized the file.
