New Invention - Self-Tuning Piano System
on: February 13, 2012, 06:45:00 PM
Greetings

Well, something I thought about years ago that would be a great idea that is finally here.

An inventor in Kansas, who is a mechanical engineer and classically trained pianist, has invented a system to keep a piano in tune with the press of a button.

Check out the link below and while the explanation of how it all works is a little hard to follow at times, there is a short video at the end that demonstrates how it works.

I'm not sure I want to give my piano the ability to electrocute me.  I suspect I sometimes give it cause to use it.  :P

Did anyone understand how the pitch could be raised? I get electricity through the strings -> warms them -> lowers the pitch, but how'd you raise it?

RATS!  I just enrolled in a piano tuning course.

Oh well, back to being an economist, I guess...
