Studies For Trills?
on: February 15, 2012, 02:29:31 PM
Is there a set of etudes anywhere, by anyone, which focuses on trills?  If not I will have a go writing them myself -I don't really mean demonically difficult ones for the 4th and 5th finger, and double third trills, etc -but normal ones for the thumb and stronger fingers -both hands of course -not necessarily at the same time!

Thanks for posting the great pianists video -interesting that.

I was thinking more Scarlatti -and for me a trill which is just  even and perfect is the best I can hope for!

How about Hanon? He has lots of all kinds of trills at the end of the book. Boring but may work.

Try my trill exercise (slowly at first):

Here's the notes:

...and before anyone comments - I know the elbows are low.  It was fine by Deppe!

Thanks KC -I'll try this. I have a weird way of playing a passage where there is a sequence -my first trill is often fine -but for some reason the second trill is not so good -then of course that is sooo noticeable.
