World History; Book Recommendations?
on: September 17, 2004, 06:38:09 PM
Hello, I am wanting to begin an in-depth research of World History, leading to the History of Western civilization, to art history, to music history.

But, I am only at the beginning, so I am wondering if there are any history buffs out there who would be kind enough to recommend for me some good books to get  me started with world history?

Thanks a lot,

Different books work well for different people- It depends on your learning style (Do illustrations and point form notes help you understand?), but most anything you find will probably be fine, just so long as you stay away from the Bible..

Encyclopedia Britannia?

Surely there must be something more focusses out there. Try to search amazon.com. Or go to a history oriented site.

Als remember that history is written by the winners. I estimate that about 80% of the details we know about history are incorrect.

Just make sure you dont use books from communist or fascist dictatorship countries.  The truth is often bent to make that specific country look really good.
