Which CHOPIN?
on: February 21, 2012, 01:24:13 AM
I'm both deeply in love with Chopin's Barcarolle in F# and his Ballade in f minor.
I can't make a decision on which one to play.
This is my question to you:
Which piece do you personally like better?

I'm also open to any other suggestions. :)

Barcarole sounds more romantic, while the ballade is sadder and eerie. Your choice!

Why not do both ?- then it's simply a question of which first (answer, the Barcarolle).

Why the Barcarolle first? If you don't mind me asking. :)

I think the barcarolle is a little easier, so (1) won't take as long, and (2) is good prep for the ballade.

Wow, those are hard pieces. Barcarolle isn't to be underestimated, it looks easier yes, but by no means is it easy. If it IS easier than the 4th ballade then only by a little.

Yeah, but I think the Ballade is more musically challenging. These things are always a matter of personal strengths/weaknesses.

To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
