Melancholic: Ravel's Fugue from Le Tombeau de Couperin and his Oiseaux Tristes from Miroirs
Blissful: Overall of Schumann's Carnaval. :)

Best regards, Dr

Haha, I'll try to answer that literally - if you ever find yourself this happy or sad you'll probably need to get some help.

The MOST over-the-top blissful and melancholic I can think of:

:D: Mozart's Jupiter Symphony, especially the last movement.

:'(: Stockhausen: Adieu wind quintet - wrote it in memory of the son of a friend of his that was killed in a car crash.  One of the rare instances this composer tries to evoke emotion in his work, but, of course still hard to listen to; grossly depressing, and very effectively reflects sickening and debilitating bereavement a little too well.

Definitely not something I want to listen to to jazz me up b/f I go to work in the morning.

Also, Chopin's c minor Nocturne mentioned above is definitely on the list.
Haydn: Sonata in C No. 35
Scarlatti: K. 1, 380, 443
Blasco de Nebra: Sonata V
Handel: Fantasia in C G.60
Couperin: La Reville Matin
Rameau: La Dauphine
Pachelbel, Trabaci, Frescobaldi: Various

Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 has to be my favorite piece by Chopin. There is not a thing I don't love about it. Probably his finest Nocturne. No!... his finest piece! I'm glad someone mentioned it, it seems to be one of those pieces which are slowly becoming forgotten, very few play it. Op. 9 No. 2 is nowhere near as melancholic, in my opinion of course. :)
