Lento in D minor - Rachmaninoff
on: March 05, 2012, 08:32:14 PM
This Rachmaninoff's work is called
Lento in D minor
, (also called
Song without words
, but it is not his "vocalise").
It is one of his first compositions. It appears attached to the disc from "variations on a theme of chopin". Here you can listen to it:
https://www.goear.com/listen/cf281b6/song-without-words-lento-in-d-minor-sergei-rachmaninoff
Lots of thanks for whoever could give me either the score or the way to get it, free if possible
Thank you. It's a song I truely love.

think it might be this one but you can email their cust service team to find out just in case
second piece in volume v
https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/The-Piano-Works-of-Rachmaninoff-Volume-V/16296864#
basic musicology info you can also give this to any sheet music dealer and they can probably hunt it down
Musicology:
Lento (Song without Words) in D-, TN ii/11
Key: D-
Year: 1888
Genre: Other Keyboard
Pr. Instrument: Piano
i don't think any scans of this are out and about on the legal public domain sites, quick glance through imslp didn't turn up anything might check again i'm multitasking right now and i'm not very good at this, surprised i was even able to dig up what i did find.

Thank you, Enrique (Gracias, si eres espaņol, como yo)
for your reply and effort. Unfortunately, it was his piano sonata, lento movement, not the song above. And yes, I was also surprised because it took me a long time to find the information you've just given to us haha Thank you very much.
I believe pretty certainly, i think, it is on public domain, as there are so many Rachmaninoff's works at IMSLP and as it is not a "mature-period" work (then, not so requested, famous and then without true economical worth?).
Anyway, its score exists somewhere, like all musics, specially from composers of his relevance, and if someone has the way to get it, either me or people who has messaged me for if I had already got it, would be truely grateful.
Thanks in advanced,

If its the Lento from his Piano Sonata, then it is on imlsp:
https://conquest.imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/c/cd/IMSLP02001-Rachmaninoff_-_Piano_Sonata_No.1.pdf
Starts on page 23. Just print out the bit you need.

Thank you, j_menz, but it wasn't that lento.
It is, in fact, the one can be heard on top and the one whose info was found by enrique,
Lento (Song without Words) in D-, TN ii/11
Key: D-
Year: 1888
Genre: Other Keyboard
Pr. Instrument: Piano
As you can see, it is an early piece, and a marvellous one indeed, short but beautiful. Anyway, thank you for your effort
