Fifth Nocturne, I. Leybach (easy arr.) - recital
on: March 22, 2012, 10:10:37 PM
I decided to post this video of my recital, that I had on Sunday (March 18 2012), and my mum recorded it with her phone. And I know I look weird and funny and all that (even my sweater decided to look funny  :P ) ::)  ::) but I'll try not to care about that anymore  :P  :P  :)

I was really worried about this recital because my teacher said I should be practicing this piece for about a month longer and I didn't have so very much time to practice the week before the recital (and also I was feeling kinda bad about practicing because of our dear neighbours  ::)  :P ) and I was tired and then I couldn't even try playing my piece on that digital piano before the recital (only a few bars) because there wasn't enough time... (and I couldn't warm up my fingers either). So I just decided that I will try to enjoy playing as much as I can (and that I won't care about the mistakes I'll make). And so I was pretty happy about how it went (even though I made a few mistakes of course) and so was my teacher  :P and my mum (maybe my dad too but he doesn't really say that, he just said that he almost fell asleep and that that was a good thing cause it was a nocturno  :P ).

So this is it. :)  :P Thank you. And good night!  :)  :)  8)  :P

very well done! this is such a pretty performance you should be proud of how you did!! there was some very nice musical shaping and pacing that really gave the piece the character of peaceful night music! i wouldn't worry too much about  a little slip here or there a wrong note did not take away from the most important thing, the the audience feel and hear a musical expression from you to them. i certainly believe so.  we're not robots and we're not called 'note-icians' so worry not and excuse yourself not. take a bow. you deserve it.

There is a vast difference in quality between this and the recordings you were posting not even a year ago.

You are making excellent progress and your playing is beginning to show some maturity. I have admiration for someone who can play in front of an audience as I would be reduced to a gibbering wreck.

Take a bow little one.

Hi Littletune, congratulations on a beautiful and musical performance!  It is quite amazing to me, really, your sense of phrasing, yes, but not just that in a general way.  Each of your musical ideas are clear and intentioned, and what strikes me as particularly cool about this performance is your ability to "shape" those intentions by pitch-class, and that in relationship to where you are within the phrase.  What I mean is that I think, to you, each note has a living characteristic and that the registers on the piano have a characteristic, and in this performance your awareness (conscious or not) of these characteristics makes it actually be alive and communicative, and being inside the room.  It is as though not just the music has a story (like it's "supposed" to), but that your world includes within it a story about the piano all its own, with pieces to play on it or not.

I enjoyed this very much :).

hello littletune!! :)

It is so gentle, pleasant and soothing to listen to even with what you say are "mistakes". Honestly I was surprised at how well this turned out despite all your obstacles. See what being relaxed and carefree does to ones  playing. I don't know if you could have played it better even if you had all the time to prepare for it, if your were tense. I know your dad liked it! ... but like most dads we tend to spoil fun with careless, smart-aleck remarks.. ::) :o ;D ;D  when deep down we loved it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hello Emill! :) Thank you very much for listening and for the nice comment!!!  :)  :) I was surprised too, and I think my teacher too. :P I don't really know exactly why it went so much better than I expected, and why I was more relaxed than usually. I wish I knew why! Because at my last recital (Christmas recital) I was soooo nervous it really didn't sound all that great!  ::) Oh well...  :) And thanks for explaining that about dads!  :P :)

Thank you again m1469 and Emill for great comments!  :)  :)

That was a really special performance -your sensitivity to the musical shapes and emotions of the piece is truly awesome. I am not surprised your teacher is pleased!

Lovely, lovely, lovely!  A fine performance, indeed!  I agree with everything everyone else has said.  You played it so beautifully, so soothingly ....  I would enjoy listening to it every night before I go to bed!
