Rudolf Diessner Stuttgart Piano history please?
on: March 24, 2012, 12:33:35 PM
Yesterday I received a Rudolf Diessner (Stuttgart) upright piano from someone who was commissioned to dump the piano. I had to save it and Im so glad i did !!!! I don't know who the owner is, and cant find the history. It looks to be much older than 50 years. It is beautifully made and sounds rich! It is painted with flowers and decorations on the inside gold board, the case has engravings and the name is inlaid in a very fancy old style typeface. I am so happy with it, but am so curious to know if anyone has heard of this piano. Nothing comes up on a search in Google unfortunately. I can send pictures if required. Any info would be very appreciated! Thanks everyone, Carolyn.

I have never heard of that make. I would guess at 100 years old, possibly more, based simply on the fact that we would probably have heard of it otherwise. I always like to see pictures of the inside, with the covers removed, ideally after you have picked up (and saved) any loose parts inside, then vacuumed inside. I save the loose bits in a bag inside the piano away from the pedals.
The quality of parts used in that area of Germany by well known higher volume makes like Scheidmeyer & the likes were often bought in and really good quality. Nice uprights from that time come from there and Leipzig.
